Elona

ELONA MONASTERY is proof that Greeks have
always had a keen eye for location when it came to
building temples and monasteries. Suspended against
a red/grey cliff, it is right next to the star attraction of
Leonidio climbing: Elona (pronounced EH-lo-na) is a
smooth, steeply overhanging wall packed with endless
tufa snakes up to 60m high. It is a phenomenal crag—
perhaps the most impressive sector of Leonidio.
